TMJ DISORDER

TMJ disorders occur when you have a problem with your jaw joints and jaw muscles. This also can happen due to a jaw injury, inflammation such as with arthritis, or overuse.

TMJ disorders may cause mild to debilitating symptoms, such as:

  • pain while chewing
  • pain in the ear, face, jaw, and neck
  • clicking, grating, or popping sounds in the jaw when you open or close your mouth
  • locking of the jaw joint
  • headaches

The treatment for TMJ varies based upon the clinical diagnosis, the cause of TMJ dysfunction and the chronicity.

Well trained physiotherapist with wide scope of experiences will commence corrective treatment after assessment.  TMJ physiotherapy is normally very successful when the problem is a movement disorder that is affected by your muscle and joint control.
